FUN FACTS

  • The University neighborhood has the most diverse population in the entire Twin Cities.
  • Bob Dylan decided to pursue folk-music, instead of rock n’ roll, during his time as a University of Minnesota student. He changed his name from Robert Zimmerman to Bob Dylan while a part of the Dinkytown music scene.
  • Bonnie Raitt was heavily influenced by her time in the Westbank and the ‘Minneapolis Sound’ while she recorded her first album.
  • The Prospect Park Water Tower is also known as the Prospect Park Witch’s Hat due to its shape. It is rumored to be the influence for Bob Dylan’s song “All Along the Watchtower.”
  • At just 10 feet wide, Al’s Breakfast is reportedly the narrowest restaurant in all of Minneapolis.
