  • The first residential buildings in the area were built in the 1850s and 1860s.
  • Settlement of the Crocus Hill neighborhood began in 1805 under Lt. Zebulon Pike.
  • Built in 1891, the James J. Hill House was then the largest and most expensive home built in all of Minnesota.
  • The Minnesota Governor’s Mansion is located on Summit Avenue and offers tours that are free to the public.
